-Â M45, Melotte 22 (Mel 22), OCL 180, also the Seven Sisters or Pleiades.
-Â most people see no more than six stars but those with exceptional vision can count from 11 to 18.
- the brightest star being mag -2.9 – Alcyone (η Tau).
-Â surrounded by the extremely large and faint Merope Nebula (IC349), which is visible telescopically under very dark skies but more easily photographed on blue sensitive film.
