Thursday 1st September – “Ring of Fire”
African Solar Eclipse; this is not a total eclipse, but rare – an annular eclipse.

Sky watchers in more than 50 African countries are about to witness a solar annular eclipse – the Moon will pass in front of the sun, covering as much as 97% of the solar disk.

For the UK Sky watchers will be seen our next eclipse on Friday 16th September 2016; the full Moon rises while inside the Earth penumbral shadow. (Penumbral eclipses is hard as tricky to see.)
