This month – May 2014 is our best opportunity of the year to catch a glimpse of the tiny planet Mercury!
From tonight – Wednesday 14th May to the end of the month look to the WestNorthwest – around 45 minutes after sunset.
The best way to find Mercury is to scan that area of sky with binoculars – once you’ve found it you’ll be able to get a fix on it with your naked eye, and also have the opportunity to turn a telescope to Mercury for its phase. (diagram)
