What is the Sun?
The Sun is a star! – Great glowing ball of two gases (Hydrogen and Helium).
Without the Sun’s light and heat – You won’t be here today, nothing could survive on this planet, Earth would die, because we need the Sun’s ray for our plants to change carbon dioxide and water into the food they need that turn, humans and animals rely on planets for their food supply.
How hot is the Sun?
The Sun is very very hot indeed! – the surface of the Sun is 6,000 Celsius and the temperature at the centre (inside the Sun) reaches 14,000,000 Celsius – (14 million Celsius!).
Is Earth bigger than the Sun?
No – The Sun looks quite small to us, but it actually one million times bigger than our planet, Earth.
