The name of `Galileo Galilei Airport`  is an airport located in Pisa, Italy, the name was after an Italian Astronomer, Galileo Galilei who was born on 15th February 1564 near Pisa.

In 1609, Galileo heard about the invention of the telescope in Holland then he was capable of depicting distant objects closer (spyglass).  He then improved on this invention to invent the first telescope the world has known.

He constructed a superior version and made many astronomical discoveries. These included mountains and valleys on the surface of the moon, sunspots, the four largest moons of the planet Jupiter and the phases of the planet Venus.
