World Cup today :- Slovakia v ENGLAND
The early hours of Sunday 20th July 1969 that millions of people were still amazing to watch the `live` footage – The American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin guided Apollo 11′s Lunar Module safety down onto the touching of Moon (Sea of Tranquility).
This was all thanks to Goonhilly’s massive Antenna 1 as shown above that you will find a blue bus under the dish – nicknamed `Arthur` that the pictures could be seen in this United Kingdom.
First, they were transmitted across a quarter of a million miles from the Moon to station at Ascension Islands – then the US, they sent the picture via a Telestar satellite to Goonhilly at Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, United Kingdom.
Goonhilly become World Famous as the site chosen by the General Post Office (GPO) for the experimental satellite communication ground station where the first inter-continetal picture between the USA and the UK was flashed across the Atlantic by way of the artificial satellite Telstar.
See the video – the very first Moon Landing of the Apollo 11 in 1969 where Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the Moon ~ “One small step for man, a gaint leap for mankind.”
