World Cup today :- MEXICO v Uruguay

El Caracol is one of the most interesting buildings at Chichen Itza at Mexico. Apparently it was an observatory and thought to have been used to view several sun, moon, and star alignments.

Rebuilt several times over the length of its use (AD 800-1000), possible viewed alignments include Venus and the solar equinoxes - it is the only round structure found here that building was to make accurate measurements of the position of Venus.

It has been demonstrated by Anthony Aveni and his collaborators that the narrow slots built into the observation tower of El Caracol accurately align with the location of Venus when it reaches the horizon at the most northerly and southerly extremes of its path through the sky.  Another window was used to track the horizon position of the sun at sunset, where the windows in the El Caracol point are believed to enable the tracking of the movement of Venus, the Pleides, the sun and the moon and other celestial events.
