Light Pollution Survey
You can monitor light pollution by carrying out a survey in your local area by looking at the constellation of Virgo (The Maiden), Corvus (The Raven), Crater (The Cup) at the south tonight @ 22:00 / 10pm.
Trace copies of the stars of Virgo, Corvus and Crater to yourself or each person taking part in the city and the country, printable in white-sky for Light Pollution Survey to find out how many stars you was able to see. Then make a map of the whole map area.
Go outside on a clear night, let your eyes adjust to the darkness, and count how many of the stars in the diagram you can see.
Bad Light pollution will hide the fainter stars – people living under the bright lights of a city may see only the brightest stars that make up the outline of the constellation, while people in a darker area to make out more than 20 stars.
See the SkyMap for target the constellations of Virgo, Corvus and Crater.
