Venus & Jupiter

This late afternoon after 5pm there will be a very close conjuction of Venus and Jupiter.
Use binoculars to look at the planetary pair near the SouthernWest-West horizon, 20 minutes after sunset. (Jupiter will be upper right of Venus – see the map below.

The Waxing Crescent Moon (1.43 day old) is above Venus and Jupiter in the early evening twilight to join the two brightest planets. It should be seen by binoculars.

See a very slim crescent Moon (0.39 day old) in the constellation of Aquarius (The Water Bearer) shortly after sunset in the west at Apogee (254,090 miles). The Moon sets at 17:59 / 5.59pm.
